Topic > The Negative Art of Graffiti - 706

It was not until the late 1960s that the art movement took shape in both Europe and the United States in response to urban street protests. During this decade, labeling was the most used technique. In the 1970s, graffiti took over hip-hop culture. During this time, most of the work on the New York and Philadelphia subways was completed. During the 1980s, graffiti began to become a more acceptable art form and was now seen displayed on the streets, as well as in galleries and museums that wanted to capitalize on “destructive art”. Graffiti still exists today. Some famous artists include Horfe, Nekst, Banos, Claw Money, etc. Note how the artist's real name is never revealed, as graffiti art is still illegal
