Topic > What makes a person a serial killer? - 930

What drives a person to kill? What drives a living human being to take the life of another? This troubling question has plagued societies since the beginning of time. Moving for all social strata, the murder is a mystery for the poor and the rich, the young and the old, women and men. Any type of person can be a murderer, regardless of background, race, or gender, and that's what makes murder so baffling. the phenomenon challenges every nation, and almost every concept (from greed and lust to envy and anger) has been proposed as a reason why humans destroy each other, but none of them are solid explanations, the the only key that could reveal the enigma. The question persists: why do people kill? It is estimated that there are between 50 and 75 serial killers operating in the United States. Of this number, approximately 7-8 are women, which is consistent with studies of homicides in general, where women represent only a small percentage of those who kill (Hickey, 1997). Female serial killers represent only 8% of American serial killers. but American women account for three-quarters of all female serial killers worldwide (H. Thomas, 2004). Of a total of approximately 400 serial killers identified between 1800 and 1995, approximately 16% were women, for a total of 62 murderers. While this number does not represent an overwhelming majority, it is also not a number that can be ignored. Those 62 women collectively killed between 400 and 600 victims including men, women and children (Peter, 2007). Because this phenomenon has been ignored, large numbers of law enforcement, as well as society as a whole, fail to realize that females can and do commit acts of multiple homicides. Due to the fact that the police do not have the ability to... half of paper documents......murders. After all my research and reading I have learned that even as we evolve as law enforcement and with technology, we may never understand why women kill, even though the most infamous female killers are known as black widows, there is still a vast range of different types of female assassins out there. We may never be able to enter the minds of female serial killers like we do male serial killers. Sometimes women kill as a crime of passion or because they have suffered abuse all their lives. Some women snap one day and have had enough or are so far from reality that they can't tell the fake from the real and they kill and don't remember killing. There are also women who psychologically think they are saving their victims by constantly hurting them to get attention again and again until they kill them..
