Group Interaction in the Wu Tang Clan The Wu Tang Clan is a nine-member hip-hop group formed in 1992. Since 1992 the group has continued to find success as a group and as a solo artist. The Wu Tang Clan is undoubtedly one of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time. The group has taken aspects from every area, from kung fu to religion, and fused them into a unique brand of music that has been imitated many times but never duplicated. What makes the group able to blend such a wide variety of topics into its music is the diversity and ability of its members. The group consists of Rza, Genius, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U God, Old Dirty Bastard, Masta Killah, Reakwon and Ghost Face Killah. Each member brings their own style to the group which ultimately allows the group to have a wide variety that encompasses all areas that need to be touched upon within a true musical performance. The group can cover many areas when performing a song unlike other groups who can only perform one style of music. All members of the group are innate and strong songwriters who stimulate and complement each other. What is a group? The definition of a group is two or more interdependent individuals who influence each other through social interaction. According to this definition the Wu Tang Clan would be considered a group. To say that the Wu Tang Clan is a group based on that definition alone would be incomplete, the group demonstrates many other characteristics of a group. First of all, the group shows great interaction. Interaction occurs when group members do things with others. To break it down even more interactions can be broken down into task or socioemotional. In task interaction the group must interact to achieve a goal. The Wu Tang C......middle of paper......oup reaches its potential. As I stated previously, when the group performs together all the members reach their potential and so does the group. It's hard to say how the group demonstrates transactive memory. Transactive memory is when group members remember or do things that they believe other group members do not do. The reason I say it's hard to say whether the group has demonstrated transactive memory is because I believe transactive memory is something you would have to be within the group to fully recognize. I would need to have much more access to the group to see how transactive memory is demonstrated. I think the fact that we don't fully see how transactive memory is used is a good thing. This shows that the group works very well together, due to the fact that they hide each other's weaknesses so well that they are not obvious to a fan..
