Gentlemen are capable of making mistakes but the difference between a gentleman and a little man is that the gentleman will be sincere about his mistake and will correct it unlike the little man who tries to hide the his mistake. One of Confucius' disciples said: “The errors of the gentleman are like eclipses of the sun and moon. When he makes one, everyone sees it; when he corrects him, everyone admires him” (Huang 182). Confucius describes the little man's effort after a mistake: "When the little man makes a mistake, he always overlooks it" (Huang 179). The small man is not as sincere as the superior man. The little man does not even let his mistake be known to society, rather, before anyone sees it, he tries to hide and cover it up.
