Erikson's psychosocial theory focuses on the development of the self, a person's relationships with others, his or her role in society, and the search for identity ( 2008). These stages include trust vs. distrust, autonomy vs. doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, and identity vs. role confusion.
