One idea that has left me perplexed and intrigued is the concept of how science, in my case chemistry and physics, has a direct impact on every single part of the world. I have always been perplexed by the secrets of what the world is made of and how exactly everything in the world works. However, it wasn't until recently, in high school, that I began to grasp the basic fundamentals of how the world actually works. To understand the origin of this desire to gain more knowledge and discover more about the way life works, I have to provide a little anecdote from last year in my AP chemistry class. My chemistry teacher had said something that I continue to reflect on today. That day in class we were briefly reviewing the periodic table and after we wrapped up the lesson, my teacher said, "Isn't it crazy how the whole world is only made up of so many elements?" This statement made me try something crazy that I had never attempted before, I tried to put the world into perspective. I tried to imagine all the vast lands that make up the earth and to understand the idea that all of this ...
