Although it is not a requirement to attend an allopathic school, I plan to do so. I believe that learning the manipulative techniques offered in osteopathy programs will not benefit me as a cosmetic surgeon. Competitive allopathic medical school applicants must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher and must take the Medical College Admissions Test known as the MCAT (Robinson, 2014). I plan to apply to many medical schools, but for now my main school of interest is the University of Virginia School of Medicine. This school evaluates an applicant based on the following: academic performance, healthcare and volunteer experience, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and personal interview. My school of interest values authenticity and seeks to find passionate and engaged students. That said, they encourage but do not require research, community service, and volunteerism. The University of Virginia School of Medicine has no science or humanities requirements, but suggests that students take cell biology, biochemistry, human behavior, and statistics, because these courses tend to be useful in middle school. (University of Virginia School of Medicine, 2013). These suggested courses coincide with the new MCAT2015 which will contain revised sections and scores from previous versions. The new MCAT will test the biological and biochemical foundations of life
