Of the editors of the Encyclopedia Britannica who state that the Minoan civilization goes along with Sir Arthur Evans as "he discovered the ruins of a unique and distinctive culture dating back to about 3000-1000 BC [to] call this culture the Minoan civilization" ( Wallenfels and Sasson 1). The Minoan civilization's outlook on life was different from that of other civilizations of this period in the Mediterranean world. To begin with, the people of the Minoan civilization were a non-violent people, as Mathisen states in his book “Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations” that “the Minoans appear to have a non-violent mentality”.
