Ten years had passed since the death of Bishan Singh, profoundly known as Toba Tek Singh, and his wife, two brothers and daughter were well settled in the city of Ludhiana in the state of Punjab in India. Hari's family prophet said that the marriage between Roop and Mandeep would not be possible before three months due to disturbing signs.
