Theme• The theme presented throughout the novel is that power is all you need to have control over others. • As Orwell defines it: “Power is not a means; it's an end. A dictatorship is not established to safeguard a revolution; the revolution is carried out to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power” (276)• The Party has all the possession of power and is able to control the citizens because no one will rebel and if they do, the Party has some consequences for them to believe what they are told said.• The significance of this theme to the novel as a whole is that power is more influential than wealth; it is possible to control people without wealth. • In our society power is distributed among people such as employees, managers and district directors, each of them has the ability to control the person under him at work, but this does not play a role after work. • This theme is the relationship between reality because individuals have no power over themselves
