Steve Irwin-A Wildlife Conservationist. The field of wildlife conservation is a vast field that unifies different professions such as scientists, law enforcement officers, engineers and various other professionals to collaborate with one goal, to preserve and protect wildlife and natural habitats (Scott, THE). Born in Victoria, Australia, in 1962, Stephen Robert Irwin, more popularly known as Steve Irwin, has dedicated his entire life to talking about wildlife. He spent his childhood growing up at his parents' reptile park in Queensland and later became an animal enthusiast and prominent television personality. He hosted the world-famous television series The Crocodile Hunter and made appearances on many major talk shows. This essay will aim to illustrate the life and achievements of Steve Irwin. Since his days in diapers, Steve Irwin had a fascination with wildlife, reptiles in particular being his favorite. At the tender age of 6 Steve caught his first venomous snake. According to Brown (2010) "Irwin's father taught him to hunt crocodiles for relocation and, by the age of nine, he was already jumping on crocodiles at night in the rivers of north Queensland". Steve had no qualifications in wildlife conservation, he worked at the Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park which his parents opened in 1970 and after his parents retired he worked tirelessly to develop and expand the park. In 1998 Steve renamed the park the Australian Zoo and it soon became a popular tourist attraction (www.australiazoo.com.au). A few years earlier, in 1991, Steve met Terri Raines who was a tourist when he initially took over the reptile park and their mutual love of wildlife and conservation immediately attracted them...... middle of paper.. ....y the love he had for wildlife and its protection. We need more Steve Irwins in this world to continue to educate the public about the importance of protecting Earth's wildlife. List of references: Brown, W., 2010.
