Topic > Analysis of Annie's Play - 1692

The things I saw that worked in the play were the costumes, props and actors. The designers created costumes suited to the character played. The orphans wore ragged clothes, this made them look less fortunate. Maids wore uniforms and wealthier characters like Daddy Warbuck wore suits. The fact that the characters have distinctive costumes allows the audience to use a less voluntary suspension of disbelief. Props provided imagery to help locate the setting. The scene where Annie arrives at Warbucks' house shows a couch, a window, a ladder, and a desk. The objects placed in the scene are typical objects found in audience members' homes, so it was easy for the audience to identify the setting. The actors chosen to play the characters were mostly of the appropriate age for the character. For example, an older woman did not play the character of Annie, the actor Sierra Thomsen was almost the same age as the character. Having a relationship between the actors and the ages of the characters made sense
