After passing the test, WG worked the night shift, from 11pm to 7am. At the end of her work shift, she wore her nursing school uniform and arrived on time for her 8 a.m. class. He also found time to fall in love with and marry a professional nurse from the same hospital. After graduation he remains at the same hospital first as a graduate nurse (GN) and after passing the NCLEX as a registered nurse (RN). Intelligent, energetic, compassionate with a passion for nursing, it didn't take long before a doctor recruited him to work at a gastrointestinal outpatient center. Within a year he was promoted to an administrative position with the center offering to help fund his degree. He was responsible for staff planning, payroll and inventory. WG applied to Florida International University, a local university that established its own nursing school in 1982. The BSN gave him leadership and communication skills he lacked. Easing the responsibility of managing the most challenging workplace, staff and patient issues, he established an interdisciplinary team. The purpose of which included increasing patient safety and satisfaction, resolving any problems among staff, patients and doctors. He credits higher education with preparing him for the success he has enjoyed in administration. However, the WG was missing the closest patient
