The United States is a world leader in healthcare. A world leader in healthcare services and an innovator in cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments. US hospitals plan to create a platform for biomedical innovation, and several academic and medical centers provide advanced and sophisticated care. A highly trained workforce that includes doctors, nurses and technicians is a world leader in the production of medical technologies and is one of the world's largest consumers supporting the U.S. healthcare industry. The US healthcare sector is further divided into different subsections such as academic medical centers, nursing and residential facilities, inpatient care, and outpatient care. US medical device companies are highly regarded globally for their innovation and expertise in high-tech products. They are more focused on research and development, which as a result have been able to maintain a competitive advantage in several sectors on which medical technology is based. The U.S. healthcare system accounts for more than $2.5 trillion in annual spending. Despite such a large investment in the healthcare sector, the burden created by rising costs is not sustainable. The healthcare landscape is changing to address issues that require a tighter budget in an increasingly uncertain healthcare environment. Hospitals and healthcare facilities are evolving to establish clinically integrated models with a more coordinated view of the patient across the system.
