Alcohol and Drug Abuse Among College Students Alcohol and drug abuse was an active habit among college students in the 1960s. The immediate cause of this behavior was the need of young people to rebel against the overly conservative American society. This rebellion led to a period of freedom for young adults, which caused them to continue acting in these unintelligent ways. After a short period of time, the adolescents no longer belonged to the group if they did not participate in mischievous acts. Substance abuse has quickly become a way of life for many young adults. As a result, this inappropriate behavior continues to this day. For first-time college students, acting in a way that parents would disapprove of in some way shows a break from the womb. This “Mom can't control me now” attitude contributes greatly to substance abuse among college students. These students have been taught all their lives exactly what not to do; but now they have the ability to decide for themselves. Naturally, late adolescents are intrigued by what was forbidden to them in previous years. This investigation is the result of inexperience. The growing severity of parents significantly hinders the maturation of adolescents. As a result, adolescents enter the final stages of growth at the college level rather than high school. The college campus offers a vast learning environment where students can easily overcome their parents' limitations. Student perplexity intensifies when the parent's guiding role is omitted. Naive young adults, now forced to come to their own conclusions, often make poor choices. Costly mistakes prevail as underdeveloped adults do not have the adequate preparation required by the university environment....... middle of paper... suddenly seen as a high enough grade. The students' great ambitions fall into improvisation. College greatly complicates the lives of many young adults. Problems arise when students face a lot of tedious work and thorny new environments. However, the most difficult test takes place outside the classroom. Changing a number of factors can reduce the complexity of this test. Throughout history, society has repeatedly created itself anew with each generation. This phase of substance abuse could easily be erased with the next wave of students. Students who abuse alcohol and drugs are intelligent and differential students. Their purity lies within but is surpassed by their surroundings. These students possess the necessary principles but lack the confidence to stand on their own. Their righteousness is only temporarily lost and can easily be regained.
