Louis Pasteur: The Spontaneous ManSpontaneous generation was thought to be the origin of life until 1850. Through a science fair sponsored by the French Academy of Sciences, Louis Pasteur to disapprove of this myth. Introduction This article is about an extraordinary gentleman who made many discoveries in his life; however, it will not be one of his discoveries, but rather an experiment that debunks spontaneous generation. You may be wondering what spontaneous generation is and how it was discovered. These will be the two main points of my article together with a brief description of Louis Pasteur. For now I will give a little introduction on what spontaneous generation is and some thought processes before discovery. For millennia, the origin of life was thought to be that organic life could arise from inorganic matter. At the end of the 17th century there was duplication on how to “create life”. One, for example, was to take some sweaty rags, wrap them around grain, put them in a jar in the open air, and in 21 days you would have created mice. All over the world, in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, humanity formulated recipes to "create" bees, lice, scorpions, maggots, worms, frogs, etc. (Life, Origin of)Materials and MethodsSince the Internet is like a library except without the fees for overdue books, I was able to use it as the main support for my research. As stated in my previous research paper, I started with Wikipedia however, knowing that Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information, I used the resources provided there to find the rest of my information. I have read numerous sites on Louis Pasteur, although I have not cited them; once again I found the center of the paper......medicine such as stereochemistry, microbiology, bacteriology, virology, immunology and molecular biology. Additionally, his work protected millions of people from disease through vaccination and pasteurization. Works Cited Barnett, Brendon. "History of Louis Pasteur." Pasteurbrewing.com.
