Topic > Airport Terminal Passenger Movement - 1035

Travelling across the country can be a challenge due to the many ways to choose from. Even when you and your family decide to travel for a planned vacation and take your own personal vehicle, it can be a hassle. How much time you have seems to be an important factor, because if the trip is too long, how tired you will be after the trip. Of course there are trains and buses that can get you to your destination at your preferred time and they probably won't be as busy and the lines won't be as long, but the preferred choice and fastest growing transportation sector are airlines. The air transport industry, there are many people who travel every year for different reasons from one city to another, such as business or leisure trips. “The common perception of business travelers is that they tend to travel more frequently than leisure travelers and tend to pay higher prices for these services” (Mason, 1995). Whether for business or pleasure, the airport terminal is a busy and complicated place to visit every year. With over 650 million passengers traveling each year, each with different schedules, itineraries, needs and desires, airport terminals have become complex systems in their own right, encompassing both the necessary passenger and baggage processing services, as well as a range complete with customer services, retail shopping, food and beverage and other facilities to make passengers' transition between the airside and landside components of the airport system as pleasant as possible. (Wells and Young, 2003, p.208) Modern people need to understand that due to safety issues, the days of arriving at the airport within 30 minutes and taking a flight are over. The post-9/11 incidents made it different… middle of the paper… ore taking off. You just have to do your part and you can be one of the large group of passengers who travel to the many airports every year, with little or no problems. The airline industry is adapting to all the new challenges and it won't be long before they find a way to get us through terminals even faster. Works CitedCNN@ 2011 Cable News Network.
