Topic > NATURAL SELECTION - 866

The term natural selection was the one used by Charles Darwin, a well-known naturalist who formulated the theory of evolution. The term natural selection is very crucial to evolution, it is the process in which some species adapt to their environment by mating with other members of that species who carry certain traits that aid the species' ability to survive. Darwin coined the phrase “survival of the fittest,” which is not about how fit a certain organism needs to be to survive, but about how a species needs certain characteristics that help the population survive in a certain habitat or ecosystem. Natural selection is widely accepted by groups of scientists as an explanation for adaptations in evolution (Grabianowski, science.howstuffworks.com). While most look to the natural selection of other organisms, humans themselves have adapted throughout history and are still evolving through natural selection. Some might argue that humans are so advanced that they no longer need natural selection to survive. This is not true because humans are still evolving. If humans are still evolving, natural selection still plays an important role in the human genome. Natural selection itself also plays a vital role in human existence and genetic expression. The most common type of natural selection in humans is purification or negative selection. This type of selection occurs when a certain mutation is weakened, but this also puts the carrier of this gene at a sort of disadvantage in its environment. The purpose of natural selection is to remove such deleterious genes (genes that have negative effects) from the population. Purification selection is best to ensure that this gene does not take over the population......middle of paper......the more skin color the person has and the colder the climate the paler the color of the person's skin. This is not only due to the UV rays of the sun, but also to the optimal adaptation of the person to the climate. Some genes that code for skin cells will undergo a certain type of selection that influences skin color based on the environment. In all reality, most of the human species is relatively advanced compared to all other organisms in the world, but they are far from perfect beings. Adaptation and evolution will always be part of the survival of the human race, it is not possible for humans to survive without the process of natural selection. It has played an important role in survival in the past and will definitely influence the human race for generations to come. Natural selection has not only contributed to the survival of the human race, but of all organisms on Earth.
