Topic > Determining the relationship between postnatal depression…

CHAPTER 44.1 Research Strategy The primary aim of the study was to determine the relationship between postnatal depression and peer support through review of primary research articles. The research strategy adopted for this study can be divided into several steps. Key concepts and terminologies for the study were identified. Subsequently, the synonyms of the terms were determined and were also included in the search terms. Boolean operators were the search features of choice. The databases from which to conduct the bibliographic search were chosen. Using Boolean operators, we created several search expressions and conducted the search. The results were evaluated and exclusion criteria were applied to obtain articles that met the inclusion criteria. The search terms and Boolean operators were changed, the search was conducted again, and the results evaluated. This process was repeated in all databases chosen for the study. 4.2 Research terminologies The PICO (Population, Intervention, Context, Outcome) framework was used to formulate the research question and strategy (Glasziou Del Marc & Sailsbury, 2000). Keywords are useful for any study as they allow the researcher to conduct research that is likely to produce results relevant to the study (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt 2011). For this study the PICO framework is shown in the table below population Postnatal women Intervention Peer support Context Relationship Outcome Postnatal depression Table 4.2.1: Table showing how the PICO framework was applied to the study It is worth noting that the concepts and words identified key had synonyms. These synonyms have been used interchangeably by different authors. Therefore, it was necessary to incorporate synonyms with...... middle of paper ...... from Clay Tablets to Web: Journey of Library Catalogue. Journal of Library and Information Technology. 33, 45-54.
