Is corporate social responsibility used as a mechanism to recruit, retain and engage employees? As the days go by, employees want more. Salaries aren't the only incentives now attracting talent. Ethical behavior and social responsibility are two appropriate ways that companies should manage and conduct business (Phillips & Gully, 2012, p. 19). There are many favorable reasons for an employer to deeply engage its employees: competitive advantage, human resources administration, external impression management and sincere honesty. If nothing else, from a financial perspective there is a direct correlation between employee engagement and the overall economic success of a company. If an employee is not happy, will they behave with passion and give everything they have to the position? There is an interdependence between CSR and employee engagement and an employee's commitment to the organization. Employee participation in social responsibility can stimulate motivation. I think organizations are facing new demands from society and shareholders to be more socially responsible. The book defines corporate social responsibility to include businesses that live and work together for the common good and value human dignity (Phillips & Gully, 2012, p. 19). Employee engagement is a very cost-effective way to tap into the credibility of corporate social responsibility. There are many simple ways to find leverage to build employee relationships and make a powerful impact on the communities surrounding your company and employees.
