Topic > A Rational Case for Jesus - 1891

Is Jesus of Nazareth the Son of God? Did Jesus of Nazareth exist? There are actually four main views on these issues. Many people simply answer no to the second question and leave things as they are. Others say that yes, Jesus of Nazareth existed historically, but they believe he was simply a good moral teacher. Other people agree that Jesus existed, but instead of seeing him simply as a moral teacher they see him as a prophet of God. The last group of people answers yes to both questions. They believe that not only did Jesus of Nazareth exist, but that he is the son of God. These views are completely incompatible with each other and there is no way to compromise a solution. There is only one right answer, and that is that Jesus existed historically and that he is the son of God. This question is important because how someone answers these questions is fundamental to their worldview. It is also important because answering yes to both questions is the foundation of the world's largest religion, Christianity. This author is a Christian and a deacon of the Windfall Christian Church. However, this was not always the case. For over ten years the author has searched for spiritual answers. He was looking for something to believe in not because someone else, or some book, said he should, but because it made logical and rational sense. This search ended where it began, with the belief that Jesus of Nazareth existed historically and is the son of God. However, many people disagree with this view. Some of them believe that he cannot be the son of God, because he never existed. Why do these people believe this? Some of them say that there is a lack of historical evidence of the existence…half of the document…conclusion they can reach; that Jesus existed historically and that he is the Son of God.
