We can promote racial unity in Malaysia through national discourses focused on building racial unity in Malaysia. In contrast, integrating students of all races into the nation's schools starting at the elementary level would help promote the development of friendships among students from an early age. A study of hostel preferences at a Malaysian university in terms of race and religion highlights the importance of primary school origin and highlights the potential benefits of early ethnic integration (Chan 2004: 29). He also warns that both the national primary and secondary schools should ensure a high ethnic mix for such a policy to be effective (Chan 2004: 29) and the key will be to organize a national discourse on unitary integration involving different races. This can be done by inviting a motivator to talk about unity and possibly strengthening racial unity among participants.
