Operational Management ControlProcess ImprovementQuestion 1: Why are organizations showing more interest in TMS (transportation management system) today than in the past? “If you can't keep up with technology, you will definitely be left behind.” Today's technology can help you with just about anything you can think of, this is especially true when it comes to the logistics of a supply chain. The transportation management system is a good example of such technology. Transportation costs are not cheap when it comes to moving products from point A to point B. The rising cost of fuel and the current economy have caused companies to look for better ways to do things while reducing costs costs. I think the first sentence says it all, things have changed in the business world compared to the way things were done in the past. Customer demand drives the boat when it comes to implementing TMS in transportation processes. TMS offers numerous benefits that enable companies to meet these customer demands. TMS optimizes all aspects of global transportation, air, land and sea, while managing the flow of transportation information with one important thing in mind, reducing costs. Companies that can implement TMS can essentially become more competitive in the marketplace compared to competitors that don't. This connectivity of system improvements has piqued the interest of organizations and has the potential to help them emerge from the stone age of logistics. Question 2: Describe the main types of activities that a TMS can offer to help achieve transportation excellence. Transportation plays an important role in the organization's logistics process. The ability to conduct your transportation processes efficiently makes the world... middle of paper......ogy you have surely escape you, sound familiar? The feeling of having a handy dollar in companies' pockets seems to hinder their ability to realize the full capabilities of the TMS and what it can do for them in the long run.
