Section AQuestion one: Explain the importance of ethics and values ​​in business sustainability? Introduction: Ethics deals with what is good for individuals and society according to (BBC ethics 2014). Ethics in general builds a person's character which is represented by his behavior. Business ethics can be defined as the way people and institutions should behave in the world of business. According to (Chris MacDonald 2014), most companies are driven by profit and examine constraints or profit for self-interest when the actions of individuals or companies affect others the most. Business ethics can also be defined as a culture practiced within a company that allows the company to make decisions and actions that conform to the principles of an organization. Business ethics are important as they define the morals and behaviors of an organization (Nieuwenhuizen and Oosthuizen TFJ (eds) 2014:93). Academics and business leaders have an agreement on some issues relating to business ethics in South Africa. It states that South Africa is shedding the legacy of racist apartheid that prevented South Africa from uniting and that South Africa is becoming a democratic country where the rights of individuals are protected. Issues related to business ethics are normative, which shows that the academic discipline is still in its early stages of development (GJ Rossouw 1997). Companies have formally written codes of ethics to guide employees on how to behave within a company which mainly consists of normative ethics for guidelines (Schwartz, 2005).
