Did you know that 25,000 people died during the American Revolutionary War? The United States of America began like all others with a king who wanted more land which equaled more power. It all started with the Charter of 1732 and of course General James Oglethorpe when the Charter ended, Great Britain took over and there was the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. The American Revolutionary War was the beginning of a great county. The battle was with the thirteen colonies who wanted independence from Great Britain. The thirteen colonies no longer wanted to follow any of Great Britain's undeserved laws. The American Revolutionary War was the most life-changing event in United States history because it was started by Great Britain, many people died, and the United States won the war. First of all, the American Revolution was caused by Great Britain. The battle began because the colonies believed they should be treated better than them. Americans were being taxed by Britain without representation from Britain. The slogan was “No taxation without representation” (Kelly). All the taxes and such have shocked Americans seeing that they were once citizens of that same country some time ago. They believed they should get all the rights of their fellow man, but the English thought the way it was set up was perfect. Who could blame them? All the laws like sugar law, currency law and 7 others enacted only for colonies could shock anyone. Thomas Jefferson said, “Our property within our territories should not be taxed or regulated by any power on earth but our own.” (Jefferson). This quote shows how frustrated the thirteen colonies were with all of Britain's regulation and taxes. Taxes were one of the reasons why the War of the American Revolution... middle of paper... was not free from the slavery of the government of Great Britain. We would still have been under British control and would have paid unfair taxes. We struggle to make ends meet without much money to feed our families. Compared to how our life is now. In the end we all see what happened in the American Revolutionary War and how grateful we are that it happened. Works Cited Kelly, Martin.
