Libya - A field ready for the harvestMatthew 28:19-20 says: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Spirit Holy One, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world." Is it our responsibility to go to Muslims for Christ? What if the culture was so different from yours? Two hundred years ago, mission leaders began to dream of how our Lord's great commission could be fulfilled and the gospel spread throughout the world. Partners International was called to serve in Libya. Furthermore, Libya is a country where less than 3% are Christian (“Libya”). Although the Bible speaks of each of us as missionaries, it can be scary to think about going to a different part of the world to share the gospel. The Bible tells us that the harvest is abundant but the workers are few. God's call to mission is evident in Libya with Partners International. Do you know that Libyan believers are few? Do they keep their faith secret because of the potential difficulties they would face if they practiced a religion other than Islam? In essence, “97% of the population of Libya is Muslim” (“Libya”). In Libya people live a very simple life. The unique dishes that are created reflect this lifestyle. Their diet consists of fruits, vegetables, cereals and milk. Because mealtime is so symbolically important, guests are often invited for the main meal. In fact, all meals are eaten in a common bowl (Dalton). “Islam is a religion founded by an Arab named Mohammad.
