Race should never be a determining factor in how an individual is judged, however, society has created racial stigmas over time that cause individuals to view one another negatively . The 1987 US Census Bureau defines races by separating them into many different categories. Describes White as a person who has origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa, Black or African American as a person who has origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa, and American Indians or Alaska Natives as a person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America.
