It expressed a more unconventional theme, at that time, "transvestism"、"homosexual love" was still a taboo topic, fully embodies the "free" spirit. the banana itself is, of course, the work of Andy Warhol, who created the image and plastered it on the cover of his favorite band's first record in 1967. Warhol was manager and patron saint of the now iconic art rock band which surprisingly sold out. only 30,000 albums in its first five years. The sexually charged effect was difficult for the producers to achieve (the time needed to perfect the peel was part of the reason behind the album's delayed release), but MGM deemed it justified, since Warhol's stamp of approval was destined to go far in the 60s. Alas, the album was certainly not a commercial success. It was only in the decades following VU's breakup that the band became a cult hit, transforming their vintage detachables...
