Mims 1Adam Mims 5/11/14Ms. HellerBullying Have you ever been in school and didn't want to go to class because of someone insulting you or physically hurting you? Many students can relate to you, so don't think you're the only one. Some people believe that continuous bullying causes the victim so much anxiety that he or she misses school every day. Bullying is an epidemic among children that is not addressed immediately and could result in unusual behavior such as suicide. Ways to prevent bullying include that schools should organize anti-bullying awareness meetings for parents and possibly a bully box. It may be true that in schools where bullying is allowed, it damages the atmosphere and feeling of the school. Bullies who have problems at home or who have bullies elsewhere tend to believe that it is okay to continue the cycle. It could be physical strength, difficulty managing emotions, or social status. When you are in a position of power you are always tempted to abuse it. If a bully is picked on by someone they love and treated badly, they will always want to inflict the same pain they are feeling on someone else. While the average episode lasted 40 seconds, on one notable occasion a group of boys beat and kicked a boy for 35 minutes... middle of paper... Mims 3 may be in or near bathrooms , hallways, and parking lots where bullying often occurs. Only 32 out of 50 states have procedures for investigating cases of bullying. Only 17 out of 50 states have school personnel reporting bullying to a supervisor, as well as reporting suspected abuse and neglect. Schools that implement additional safety measures benefit from a safer school environment. Only 9 out of 50 states require administrators to report bullying to the police. 11 out of 50 states require that schools allow anonymous reporting of bullying incidents by students. Studies show that schools with many reports of bullying are seized by outraged parents. Parents are demanding that the school make the building safer so their children can learn. Children who experience bullying at a young age are destined to develop unusual behaviors and become anthosocial.
