As part of my job, I conduct an orientation at the field office for all new hires. The most important aspect of this is the I-9 documentation; this information is entered into the E-Verify system. The company I work for has policies that state that if a person is unable to produce I-9 documentation and thus meet the E-Verify requirements, the job offer will be withdrawn. Former US President George W. Bush issued an executive order in June 2008 requiring federal contractors to comply with E-Verify. This becomes a quick and effective way to ensure that employers do not employ illegal immigrants. With a large number of unemployed Americans and an equally large number of illegal immigrants working in the United States, I believe that E-Verify should be a mandatory requirement for all employers in the United States of America. With over thirteen million unemployed in the United States, Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) would like to ensure that all available jobs go to legal workers. To that end, the senator sponsored legislation to make the E-Verify system mandatory and permanent. At the same time, making E-Verify mandatory, imposing sanctions on employers who hire illegals or flatly refuse to use the system (sessions). The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Congressman Lamar Smith, would also like to "make E-Verify mandatory." -Check the law of the entire country” (Smith), so that people working illegally in the United States can be quickly identified, thus protecting jobs for legal American workers, while reducing the possibility of illegal immigration . Oklahoma in 2007 with House Bill 1804 required public sector employers, contractors and subcontractors to comply with E-Verify.......half of the document......which were intended for workers Americans were not to be taken by illegal aliens.Works CitedLee Ziner, Karen.
