Many presidents have promised to increase government regulation of the ongoing cycle of illegal immigration. However, none of them managed to do so. It seems to be an impossible task with thousands of people crossing every day and many of them tricking the US into getting a work visa and then never returning home. Although this task of illegal immigration seems overwhelming, the government must become more involved by continuing to build border walls, allowing states to pass laws to verify citizenship if required, and, if all these actions are conducted legally, the United States will they will. become a safer place to live. The reason thousands of illegal immigrants cross the border every day is to provide a better life for themselves and their families. This is the American dream. What they don't realize is that being undocumented costs US citizens money. Furthermore, when they arrive here illegally, they “pay little or no taxes and drain our social welfare” and receive all the benefits that US citizens are entitled to when they have taxes deducted from their paychecks (“Undocumented Latino immigrants on the rise… "). Furthermore, crime rates in the United States are increasing. It is documented that “nearly 60% of Latino gangs are illegal immigrants, and the number of Latino gangs is increasing nationwide” (“Increase in Undocumented Latino Immigrants… ”). expanded to affect the entire United States, not just neighboring states. One could argue that they do not increase the crime rate because they have about the same crime rate as whites and are simply exploited more due to the fact that they are illegal. .
