Dr. James Dewey Watson is an American molecular biologist, geneticist, zoologist, scientist and thinker. Dr. James D. Watson was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 6, 1928 to James Dewey Watson and Jean Watson. During his undergraduate years Watson did not study what he is now known for, genetics or biochemistry; he was actually in the field of ornithology. He became interested in discovering the secret of the gene after reading Erwin Schrodinger's influential book, What is Life?, studied and graduated at the age of nineteen from the University of Chicago, graduated from the University of 'Indiana in Bloomington studying the effect of X-rays on bacteria. Watson worked at the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge in England, where he met his collaborator Francis Crick, working to discover the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Together with Dr. Francis Harry Compton Crick, they are best known for discovering the structure and function of DNA, the molecular carrier of genetic information. Both had worked together since the early 1950s, and today their research is considered a fundamental principle in the advancement of molecular biology. While experimenting with cardboard and pulp in 1953 to get a three-dimensional example of what their experiment hypothesized, both Watson and Crick discovered that DNA must be composed of two double helix configurations. After intensive experiments, they discovered that several letters of genetic structure could be superimposed on each other without changing absolutely anything. These letters may be better known as: Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine, or A, T, G and C. Watson realized that "an Adenine-Thymine pair held together by two hydrogen bonds was identical... mid article ......different issues regarding scientific research and the strong presence of federal policies to support research.
