Explain why someone would want to take on a leadership role within an organization. What are the pros and cons of being a leader? The feeling of power and control makes many people feel like they have succeeded in life. However, a leader's job is to provide vision and inspiration, which will in turn provide direction to his or her followers. Anyone who wants to take on a leadership role within an organization does so because they see that there is an opportunity for them to take an organization and make it thrive. They see that there is an opportunity for them to demonstrate that they possess the qualities that a person must possess to be a great leader and they want to prove that they are. However, in doing so, you need to know that there are many pros and cons to being a good leader. There are great benefits to being a leader. Leaders are liked by their subordinates and feel important. They can take a struggling organization or a follower looking for guidance and show them the right direction they need to follow to improve. They have the knowledge and intelligence to motivate and guide people to feel better about themselves and want to work together. Leadership is more of a quality process that one must possess, and leaders must not be afraid to make changes but instead realize when the time is needed for change. An effective leader is one who identifies the right work that needs to be done, influences the right people at the right time to do the work, and gets it done in the right way (Manktelow, 2005, p. 16). they are also negative aspects of being the person who drives. A leader is the one person in the organization who must know and understand everyone he or she works with. Must know how to make fair and ethical decisions... at the heart of the paper... as a group, and in doing so ensure the success of the organization. Works Cited Clarke, GB (1962, September).
