Free time is one of the most important things when it comes to leading a fulfilling life and it becomes even more important when you retire and find yourself with a surplus of time and fewer resources . Social and physical limitations can also limit retirees in their pursuit of free time. This essay focuses on a group of retirees in the advanced age stage, who take a trip to the Melbourne Cup in 2030 with the assistance of an agency. Environmental effects, such as pollution and sustainability, were taken into account, along with the goal of leisure, which is a human right. For the purposes of this essay, the trip is divided as follows: on the first day the group flies into Melbourne, books into their hotel and uses the day to explore the city by visiting historic buildings such as the museum or art gallery. The second day involves the actual trip to the Cup, also using this opportunity to visit the Flemington museum on site. The third day includes activities or sightseeing chosen by the group before the return flight. This can include shopping, a river cruise, activity trips, whatever the group can afford and choose to do. For our group, free time is an activity that helps structure time that would previously have been occupied by work. It also helps you foster community bonds and gain acceptance from others. Leisure offers numerous health benefits, such as reducing the risk of falls, while providing positive social, emotional and psychological effects (Edgington, CR, Deiser, RB, Graaf, DG, &Edgington, SR 2006). As age advances, the type of leisure in which one participates changes, in our group of residents the elderly are considered, i.e. those over 66 years of age. Leisure is a way... middle of paper... ...more self-sustainable through economical and ecological programs, such as sustainable public transport. To reduce the carbon footprint of this trip, carbon-neutralizing fares will have been paid. Our group will then book the hotel that has the best environmental rating that our group can afford within our budget. That society has recognized leisure as a need is recognized by the improvements made to retirement communities and the greater quality of life offered than in the past. He also recognized that we are running out of resources and that we need to provide sustainable leisure, for example by using leisure to produce energy. To be successful in free time you need the support and cohesion of experiences with other people, material resources and the ability to sustain those resources and it is this free time that we are working for.
