Topic > Democratic government: is it better? - 1176

In order for the country to develop or keep up with the modern world and institutions, it should have certain standards; and one of the most important is democracy. In the modern world where almost all countries, with the exception of some still autocratic or socialist governments, have a common denominator and democracy comes almost as a standard measure. Several authors discuss whether a democratic government is better than others that are not, or if a country is democratic, it functions better than those that are not. Democracy can have many meanings, whether it is a system of government of the entire population or of everyone. the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. But the most accurate and most widely used according to Przeworski are: free elections, popular elections and contestations with more than one party. I consider a good and well-functioning democracy to be one that has a stable institutional structure and which guarantees equality to its citizens. all citizens, freedom and the proper structure and smooth functioning of all types of institutions in the country. But above all, a well-functioning democracy is one that makes citizens happy and makes them satisfied with what they have. When civil society is involved and committed to supporting a country's institutions, democracy can function best. On the other hand, if a government or institution does not follow what democracy really is and what it should be, and simply maintains legitimacy and consolidation, democracy will not work and discontent will arise among the entire population. A good democracy is where citizens come together and are encouraged by the feeling of community and enjoy freedom and equality...... middle of paper ...... as the political structure that best supports the “distribution of society's goods”. This is unique in that it concerns a limited form of democracy as the political structure that best supports a just distribution of society's goods. Any other form of government would not be able to distribute goods as democracy does. The overall civic community and the political engagement of the population are therefore part of a democracy. If a society doesn't get involved politically, if the society doesn't care, democracy will collapse and won't work as it should. If people join together, go to meetings or work as a community, according to Putnam, who is in my opinion the author who best explains and provides the most detailed examples of how important it is to have social capital; without this, democracies would not last or function as they have done so far.
