Problem Identification Health centers are important institutions within society that aim to ensure that every individual is healthy and that appropriate medical care is provided in a timely manner. Within the emergency department, nurses and staff face numerous challenges ranging from lack of an adequate strategy to poor motivation. Employees are not motivated and do not have the internal drive to carry out assigned tasks and fulfill defined responsibilities. Therefore, there is a mismatch between job descriptions and their actual ability to perform assigned duties and tasks. As employees do not perform optimally, numerous challenges and threats to the healthcare institution have been identified. Complaints have been received from patients regarding the lack of adequate resources and the poor quality of services and products. It results in threats because patients have filed numerous complaints to legal institutions resulting in tarnishing the name of healthcare. These numerous issues may be associated with the type of leadership employed at the healthcare institution. Possible Solutions Some of the appropriate solutions to address the problem include: • Solution 1 – Human Resource Development and Training – the first option is reskilling and skill development of employees to ensure that they effectively carry out their different tasks and responsibilities (Bass & Riggio, 2005). It is important because employees would be informed about new techniques and approaches to fulfill different obligations and tasks (Aulicino, 2006).
