Topic > Scottish delusions of grandeur or the death of Great Britain

1. IntroductionIn recent years there has been a growing interest in the definition of national identity. The time of continuous changes, globalization and knowledge of other cultures has led people to explore new places and gain life experience. More and more people have started calling themselves global citizens, at the same time forgetting that national identity plays a vital role in creating personality. What lies behind the term “national identity” is not only shared history, but also the language and traditions passed down to younger generations. Recently, considerable attention has been paid to Scotland due to the upcoming referendum. Scots no longer perceive themselves as part of Great Britain due to cultural and political differences which will be described later. In my report I will try to give the reasons for Scottish independence. Furthermore, I will set out the arguments for Scotland remaining part of Great Britain. Problem FormulationFirst of all, to formulate the answer to my main problem, I asked some questions that will help me stay on the path:- What are the characteristics of Scottish culture?- What are the main reasons for Scottish independence?- What are the benefits of Scotland becoming independent? - What are the reasons for Scotland remaining part of Great Britain?1.2. Delimitations I would like to highlight the fact that my project will only be about looking at Scotland in terms of a referendum. I will partially use comparisons with Britain in general. I tried to gather as much information as possible regarding my problem. To avoid bias, I tried using various...... half of the paper ......would not benefit from this change. However, I beg to differ from the view that the Scots have lost their independence and control over the country by being part of the union.
