Introduction. Consultants have an important role to fill. Not only do they administer assessments, but they are also involved in group and individual counseling and must plan and implement comprehensive school guidance programs. A consultant must know and be competent in all areas of their position. School counselors work with all children, including those with disabilities in various contexts within the school (Villalba, Latus, Hamilton, & Kendrick (2005 p 449). As stated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), services school counseling must be made available to all students in special education programs as part of their right to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) (Bowen & Glenn, 1998; Clark, 1998). role in educational and personal social well-being of students in special education programs Federal law requires that children who receive special education services and do not exhibit appropriate behavior have a functional behavior assessment (FBA) team (Villalba, Latus , Hamilton and Kendrick (2005). This team builds a BIP. Since consultants are expected to be active in the FBA team, there is a need that needs to be addressed because this article defines a lack of knowledge present with practicing consultants. . With this, counselors receive relevant training throughout their program. There are only a certain number of classes and hours of instruction that pre-consultants receive. Does the generated resume include what consultants need, but there may be some gaps and missing pieces?
