Topic > The Roman Colosseum - 3004

In Rome the buildings were built under the Roman Empire. The Roman Colosseum was built between 69 and 79 AD by the emperor Vespasian, the Circus Maximus was built in the 2nd century BC by the high emperor, in 31 BC it was destroyed by a fire which led the emperor Augustus to rebuild the Circus in 82 AD, Ludus Magnus was a gladiator training school in Rome and was originally built between 81 and 96 AD by Emperor Domitian. The emperor's theme was large stone public buildings that would bring the people of Rome together, and the emperor was rich and had manpower. Emperors are also protectors towards the workers and also to show that they are the great leaders. The emperors had money and many workers to construct the buildings to the emperor's satisfaction. The buildings were used by the public as entertainment where they went to watch all kinds of competitions and fights. Rome's most famous landmark, the Colosseum, is a large amphitheater that could hold up to 50,000 seated people, located in Rome, Italy. The Colosseum was used as a royal gift, entertainment where gladiators fought with wild beasts in front of people, animal hunting, theatrical performances and public executions for public entertainment and even for the king himself. Most of the public event was held at the Colosseum. The Roman Colosseum was built between 69 and 79 AD by Emperor Vespasian. The site chosen for the Roman Colosseum was a flat area at the bottom of a low valley between the Caelian, Esquiline and Palatine hills through which a stream flowed. The Great Fire of Rome devastated it in the 2nd century BC. When Vespasian died in 79, the Colosseum had been completed up to the third floor. The difficulties in building the Colosseum were that they had... half of paper......y report I was a little behind and couldn't find much information clearly while I had to hand in my research. I couldn't rely too much on some sites as they might have changed and contained information that wasn't relevant to what I was focusing on. Overall I learned a lot by doing this research and have a better understanding of Roman buildings and what Roman society was like during that time. The buildings I chose to create were an advertisement for a powerful civilization. Emperors demonstrated their power to be great leaders with a lot of money who could convince as many workers as possible to erect their model monument. Emperor Augustus used propaganda to secure a broad base of support until his resignation in 27 BC Roman emperors also built all these monuments in reference to public spectacle for their political advertising.
