Topic > A Personal Ethnographic Account of Halloween - 769

When I learned that I would have to do my own ethnographic account of what I had done during Halloween, I was worried because I live on the Turnpike and the most exciting thing that happens on the Turnpike is noise of the garbage truck when it comes to picking up Wednesday's garbage. Luckily something happened to me and I realized I shouldn't have to write a boring article about how I woke up and stayed in my room all day. Well the day started with me waking up and going to the bathroom to take a shower, as soon as I turned on the water I realized I had left the shower and instead of closing it I stayed in because the heat of the heat water was too tempting to step out and get the towel. In the shower I had my usual thoughts about life, death, and returning to old arguments. Next I got out of the shower and grabbed my toothbrush, which was in a cabinet behind the toilet, but I grabbed it too quickly and it fell into the toilet. I stood at the toilet for about five minutes staring at the toothbrush in the toilet not believing what had just happened, and then I started blaming myself for being too impatient. When I finished feeling sorry for myself, I went to my room looking for another toothbrush but unfortunately I couldn't find one, so I had to go to the local store around 7:30 am looking for a toothbrush . While looking for a replacement toothbrush I realized that there weren't many people in the shop, I had always thought that the shops were busier in the morning and evening, but apparently that's not true. Once I got my new toothbrush I finished brushing, got dressed and went to catch the 11 to the Transit Center. On the bus I realized something interesting, people chose to stand...... middle of paper.... ..since Halloween is an American tradition. After thinking about it for several minutes, I was disappointed in my classmates who had lived their entire lives in America and did not dress up, they were being beaten according to a tradition that the international student had just experienced. After that it was time for class, so I ran to Japanese 101 class and stayed there for 3 hours learning Japanese, then I went to the west side of campus and took the Introduction to Social Research class and finally took on the 11th to go home and fell asleep.'I learned a lot of things during Halloween, but I have to say the most interesting thing for me was the bus crash. It may have been because I had never ridden a bus before arriving in Santa Barbara and found it strange, but it may have been normal for people who have lived in Santa Barbara for a long time
