Anne Zahalka was born in 1957 and comes from an immigrant background with Viennese Jewish and Czech Catholic ancestry. For this reason, his works revolve closely around Australian culture, focusing on themes such as traditional cultures, activities and relationships within a place. Zahalka tends to stage quality within his works, through the process of using computer technology to underline his concepts and manipulate images, therefore emphasizing his intended meanings, as well as building a temporary studio on site.
