Additionally, approximately 13 million children and adolescents between the ages of 2 and 19 are also obese in the United States. An obese child will present the following symptoms, such as an overweight physical appearance, binge eating, and it is very common to have shortness of breath when undertaking a physical task or exercising. Childhood obesity, if not treated or cured, can cause very deadly complications in the near future that awaits them. It can lead to the child having high blood pressure and high cholesterol in the future. It is considered negligence for parents to have an obese child, because children need to be looked after and should not be concerned with their own well-being, they don't know any better. Parents, on the other hand, are adults raised to know their child's medical history and what is needed for their child to live a healthy life. To avoid obesity in their children, parents must know all the fundamental aspects to be successful in their children's health, avoiding poor food choices. Ultimately all parents need their children to receive proper medical care and healthy lifestyle counseling, otherwise the child is deemed to be obese and as a result the state will take affirmative action against the family
