Laws legalizing Internet gambling contribute to the increase in gambling addicts for its convenience and attraction. Internet gambling increases the amount of gambling addicts because it makes gambling so convenient for problem gamblers that they can simply go online at any time and start placing bets on their favorite games like poker or sports games. Gamblers may play more often and faster, which causes problems because they do not realize how much they are playing and how much fun they are having due to the rapid computer simulation that occurs in Internet poker games. Another way that Internet gambling is addictive is its attraction. Its attraction is a problem because it not only entices gamblers to try this new style of gaming. It also uses images and advertising to make it seem nice to attract unrelated people who never gamble to begin with, the general presentation of Internet gambling is proven to attract women to become addicted and into debt (Lythe). Not to mention the organized crimes that would be caused by Internet gambling, such as illegal money laundering (Morganteen). Therefore, legislations that allow Internet gambling would lead to negative consequences. The casino structure is itself becoming a problem because many small aspects of casinos that we don't pay attention to, can become an effort to turn players into addicts. The simple fact that the legislation does not require the construction of many specifics when building casinos, such as not requiring windows and clocks inside the casino, is a flaw that contributes to gambling addiction. These little things contribute to gambling addiction because omitting windows or clocks in the casino is a strategy they use to keep gambling... at the center of the card... its time." VegasInc.com.
