We are all different people with different hopes and goals to achieve that are part of our dreams and everyone has the right to have them, but not everyone has the same chances of achieving their goals. When a person's dream is to become a doctor, help people and save lives, they have to work to do it and hopefully you have the skill and dedication, but there's one problem... the color of skin. There is nothing wrong with the color of your skin and you are actually part of the majority, but it is unfair because of something called affirmative action. After the segregation congress passed something called affirmative action that made colleges originally have a quota of how many minority students they had to accept that was ruled unconstitutional, so instead minorities were allowed to have an advantage over the majority even though the test scores or extracurricular activities say otherwise. The majority is not alone in believing this is unfair. "Our records are almost the same. But when we look for work this year, it's a different story. You have all the brakes" (Rodriguez 3). This was written by a minority author who believed this was unfair. He believes this example of how affirmative action works is truly unfair. Affirmative action was created to give minorities a better chance of success when racism was a big thing and now that racism isn't a big deal, they still have this advantage and the majority is defeated.
