This report provides an analysis and evaluation of the strategy implementation used by California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) and discusses the effectiveness of their strategy through organization design, systems control, people and culture. My research concluded that CPK relies on control systems to undertake most of the company's operational activities and that human resources and organizational culture must support the implemented strategy, which is the case for CPK. IntroductionStrategic implementation is a critical factor when making decisions regarding issues that affect an organization's vision, mission, or objectives. Strategies are often implemented in accordance with the culture of the organization, the nature of the control systems, the stakeholders and the nature of the organizational design. To achieve success in implementing strategies, the structure of these factors must work in coordination with each other. For example, CPK's strategic vision lies in creating a globally recognized brand, and therefore, all of CPK's goals and objectives must be directed towards making the company achieve this goal (California Pizza Kitchen 2011). Furthermore, the vision statement is inherently inclusive as it communicates the message in a directional, flexible and focused manner. Strategic implementation involves applying deliberate management processes to achieve desired outcomes. Predominantly, the process is achieved through the selection of implementation approaches related to an organization's structure, human resource management, development, decision-making and information processes, resource allocation, determination of desirable... half of paper... ....mentation of strategies within the company. Finally, symbols play an important role at CPK and this includes the iconic leadership of the founders, Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax. Conclusion Strategy implementation is an important feature in CPK and the type of strategies implemented depends on organizational design, structure, human resources (people), organizational culture and use of control systems (Bradford and Duncan, 2000). Even though mission statements are not openly stated anywhere, they are very essential in influencing the types of strategies implemented by the company and must be executed in such a way that they influence the performance of the company. Human resources and organizational culture must support the implemented strategy. Finally, CPK depends on control systems to carry out most of the company's operational activities.
