In the book Shattered, the book is about a teenager who starts to mature as he gets older. The main character begins to become more mature after getting a job in a soup kitchen. He begins to realize that there are many problems going on in society. There are many kinds of conflicts happening around him. The four types of conflicts in the book are Human vs. Society, Human vs. Self, Human vs. Human, and Human vs. Self. The only conflict that really makes this story stand out is Human vs. Society due to the Rwandan genocide. Human vs. Self, Human vs. Human, Human vs. Self are the other conflicts that make this story interesting after the Human vs. Society conflict. To begin with, the first type of conflict encountered in the book, Shattered, is Human versus Society. The individual involved is Ian, he is taking a stand and fighting against society for all the people living on the streets who have been treated like garbage. This conflict is due to poverty and lack of respect for people living on the streets. Society has no respect for people on the streets and considers them nothing more than trash. This conflict is about social justice due to the high number of poverty and injustice. Poverty is a major social justice issue as it occurs almost everywhere in the world. I think the conflict would be resolved when Ian's word reached the government and they decided to act. The government will have to take a stand and stop the violence against poverty and the lack of respect towards poor people. I think the conflict will be resolved with the use of government. The government should increase taxes for the rich and decrease taxes for the poor. The rich were...... middle of paper ......ide because everyone in the soup kitchen knew it and he didn't want to be left out. If the genocide had not occurred, this conflict would not be possible. Ian will have to overcome obstacles and discrimination to complete this assignment. I think this conflict will be resolved when Ian sees confidence in himself. I think one possible solution to resolve this conflict is if Ian interviewed Jack. In conclusion, all kinds of conflicts occur in this book. The four types of ongoing conflicts are Human vs. Society, Human vs. Self, Human vs. Human, and Human vs. Self. Rwandan genocide, poverty, discrimination, oppression, obstacles and injustice are the reasons for all kinds of conflicts going on in the book Shattered. Ultimately, there will always be a solution available for every problem.
