As the young people in his novels enter the new millennium, they find themselves at a crucial juncture of deciding whether to carry forward the glorious values of the country's past or adopt the new culture championed in the name of Westernization and globalization. They call themselves modern but fail to understand that they cannot overcome the entrenched ideologies of the past. Even though young people are part of the real world, they often live in their own world characterized by joy and humor while the real world is highly materialistic, selfish and completely contrary to their expectations.
