Topic > Video Games Do Not Promote Violence Today - 932

Video games have gained a lot of publicity from the 90s to today. Once upon a time they were just simple entertainment tools for happiness. However, they are now evolving and adopting new approaches, but some adults and parents disagree. Ever since video games have included apocalyptic fantasies and furious world war flashbacks in their games, the world has been worried about today's youth. They are blaming video games for the violence in the world because of what is depicted inside a little CD, but I don't think video games are the cause. In this essay I will discuss the reasons why video games do not exploit violent acts against American children because children know not to imitate video games, teen violence is not as high as it was in the 1990s, and video games can be educational. To raise a child you need to teach him what to do and what not to do. If not, they will be curious to try new things, dangerous or not. Unless you have raised a child with a disorder or disability, he should not be easily influenced to do things he should not do. Grand Theft Auto is a perfect video game to use as an example. “However, I understand that going out on the street and punching someone in the face will land me in prison… and I know that is not a good way to live my life” (Meeks). In video games, creators open a door for players so they can do the unthinkable in the real world in the video game. In Grand Theft Auto, you can commit many unrealistic things and out-of-control crimes in that game and not end up in prison, unlike in real life. As the quote said, the individual clearly knew the boundary between what can be done in video games and what can be done in real life. We don't have the skills and freedom to do anything... middle of paper... the game teaches children more than just fighting moves and how to blow someone's head off, they grab the child's interest and they create a path in their imagination and fill them with joy. They have been proven to not brainwash children into doing sneaky things. Video games are very educational, kids of this generation don't succumb to violence on screen and act it out, and teen violence isn't as crazy as it was in the past. As a result, I believe that video games are not the cause of violence in today's world. Many people are smart and know the difference, their parents just need to manage their children in a better way than letting them do whatever they want. Video games do not teach children to rebel against their parents, if they were intelligent and not easily moved by something, parents would not be ready to attack video games.
