3D printing is the action of creating a three-dimensional object of any shape from a computer model. A 3D printer is basically a robot that deposits materials into different shapes. Chuck Hull made the first 3D printer in 1984; he created it to be able to prototype things in mass production and quickly. The two ways to create 3D objects are subtractive manufacturing, which refers to drilling a shape out of a block of material, while additive manufacturing, which refers to adding layers of material in a sequence to create and objects. An advantage of 3D printing is that, on command, specific objects can be made from different materials. The scope of 3D printing can be extended to many different places to make specialized objects, but one place where it is widely used is medicine. Since many parts of the body cannot be replaced and are very specialized in shape, the 3D printer has made it easier for doctors to get those certain specialized things they need and helped create some sort of material that could replace the organ . 3D printing has been used for example to create bridges, crowns and plaster models in dentistry. This not only eliminates the bottleneck of manual creation, but also eliminates the possibility of human error. Plus, 3D printing is a much faster way to produce those specific things instead of making them manually. Another example of how 3D printing is helping medicine is surgery where 3D printed implants are used. Because some bones are very specific and have very specific shapes, doctors now simply make them on the computer and print them with the 3D printer. An example of this is that surgeons just performed the first implantation of the entire 3D printed skull. ...... half the paper ...... the process only takes about 8 hours and is also much less expensive as the materials used are cheaper. Finally, instead of taking stem cells, doctors could simply 3D print the patient's tumor and use it to ensure the success of the surgery. Taking stem cells is one way to treat more advanced cancer, but sometimes when cancer is diagnosed, early surgery may be needed to remove it. This surgery is very difficult because if only one tumor cell is left, the person will not get rid of the cancer. If doctors are able to practice removing the tumor, the surgery goes much more smoothly and has a greater chance of success. A new development using 3D printing has been found at a university in Texas. It turned out that scientists could now develop skin patches using the 3D printer. This would allow many skin diseases or burns to be treated without stretching the victim's excess skin.
