Topic > Parenting: Parents and Stepparents - 2326

A parent is a person who fathers or gives birth to and/raises and raises an offspring. Becoming a parent or guardian is one of the most challenging jobs there is. There are different types of parenting such as biological parents and social parents. Biological parents are the parents who produce and provide the genetic material for a child. This parenting begins at the moment of conception. Social parents are individuals who care for a child without providing genetic material. They can be adoptive, foster, step-parents or surrogate parents. These parents take on the responsibilities of parenting and may experience particular difficulties due to the nature of their child. Adoption is an alternative for parents who cannot conceive a child. This is a legal process in which children are no longer considered part of their biological family but of their adoptive family. Adoptive parents are required to demonstrate that they are capable of meeting the child's needs. Foster care is the full-time care of children outside of the home by someone other than the biological or adoptive parents or legal guardians. Children come into foster care for a variety of reasons. A small number of children are in foster care because their parents feel unable to control them or their behavior is unacceptable. Some have been neglected and their parents are unable to care for them due to mental health issues, substance abuse or incarceration. Step Parenting occurs when parents reunite after separation, stepparenting often transcends family boundaries. Children may have a co-resident stepfather, a nonresident stepfather, or both. Additionally, one or both partners in co-resident childless partnerships may have stepchildren living elsewhere. On...... half of the document ...... rolment.
